Miss Venezuela Is The Winner Of Miss World 2011

0

Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos, has been crowned the 2011 winner of the Miss World beauty pageant at a glittering final ceremony in London.

Wearing a pink dress with diamante studs that had giant frills slashed below the waist, the 22-year-old threw her hands to her face as she was announced the winner.

Last year's Miss World, Alexandria Mills of the United States, placed the sparkling crown on her successor's head.

"I believe that the next Miss World should be a woman of responsibility and reason," Sarcos said before winning the title.

"I believe the woman should be committed to the organisation and help people in need. Beauty with a heart", added the Venezuelan, who works for a broadcasting company and has a degree in human resources.

Miss Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais, was named the runner-up, while Miss Puerto Rico, Amanda Perez, came third in the contest, which was back in its home city to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Some 113 beauty queens from Albania to Zimbabwe took their place on the stage, with the show being broadcast live to an estimated audience of more than one billion viewers in 150 countries.

Around 50 feminists staged a demonstration outside, waving placards reading "Objectification won't achieve world peace", "Being a woman is not a competition" and "Sexism is pretty ugly".

Around a half dozen were veterans of the 1970 pageant protest, which caused a major disturbance.

Inside the Earls Court Two auditorium in west London, the few thousand fans cheered, waved national flags and shouted for their favourites.

To whittle them down to the 15 semi-finalists, several point-scoring rounds were held during the contestants' tour of Britain over the previous two weeks, with the results revealed on stage.

Miss Venezuela topped the interview round; Miss Dominican Republic, Marianly Tejada Burgos, was named the general sports champion; home favourite Miss England, Alize Lily Mounter, won the beach beauty title, while Miss Kazakhstan, Zhanna Zhumaliyeva, was named top model.

The crowd were played clips from the talent round _ where performers sang, danced and gave piano recitals - won by Miss Chile, Gabriela Paz Pulgar Luco.

Miss Ghana, Stephanie Adwoa Agyeiwaa Karikari, and Miss Indonesia, Astrid Ellena Indriana Yunadi, were the joint winners of the beauty with a purpose category, where contestants can highlight a charity project.

With the scores in and only the top 15 going through to the semi-final, Miss Puerto Rico topped the leaderboard, ahead of Miss Venezuela, Miss Philippines, Miss Ukraine and Miss Scotland.

The final seven, chosen by the judges, were Miss England, Miss Korea, Miss Philippines, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Scotland, Miss South Africa and Miss Venezuela.

It was announced that Ordos in Inner Mongolia, China, will host the 2012 competition.

US Embassy Warns Its Citizens About Possible Attacks In 3 Hotels In Nigeria

0

The U.S. Embassy has warned its citizens that three luxury hotels in Nigeria's oil-rich capital, Abuja, may be the next target of a radical Muslim sect known as Boko Haram, responsible for last week's attacks that have killed 100.

The death toll from attacks by the radical Muslim sect recently rose to more than 100 on Sunday, and the United States Embassy warned that the sect might be preparing to bomb three luxury hotels frequented by foreigners in Abuja, the capital.

The unusually specific warning from American diplomats identified the Hilton, Nicon Luxury and Sheraton hotels, whose guests include diplomats, politicians and Nigeria's business elite, as possible targets of the sect, known as Boko Haram.

Boko Haram's attacks have killed more than 100 people.

The embassy said its diplomats and staff had been instructed to avoid the three hotels, but an embassy spokeswoman, Deb MacLean, would not provide any details about the threat or its source.

A Nigerian Red Cross official, Ibrahim Bulama, said he expected the number of dead in northeastern Nigeria to rise as clinics and hospitals counted the casualties from the attacks on Friday in Damaturu, the capital of rural Yobe State.

Damaturu remained calm on Sunday as Muslim residents celebrated Id al-Adha, the feast of sacrifice, when Muslims slaughter sheep and cattle in remembrance of Abraham's near-sacrifice of his son. Army and police units were on duty at roadblocks leading into the city, Mr. Bulama said.
Sunday in the sect's spiritual home, Maiduguri, about 80 miles east of Damaturu, according to the local police commissioner, Simeon Midenda. The attackers stopped the inspector's car at gunpoint as he neared a mosque to pray with his family, ordered his relatives away, then shot the inspector to death, Mr. Midenda said. The sect later allowed the inspector's family to drive the car away, he said.

"Our men who live in the midst of the Boko Haram are not safe," Mr. Midenda said.

Boko Haram wants to put strict Shariah law in place across Nigeria, an oil-rich nation of more than 160 million people that has a predominantly Christian south and a Muslim north. The sect's name means "Western education is sacrilege" in the local Hausa language, and it rejects Nigeria's democratic process, which is similar to that in the United States. Boko Haram says democracy has created corrupt leaders who have destroyed the country.

The United Nations Security Council issued a statement late Saturday calling the bombings and shootings in Damaturu and Maiduguri "criminal and unjustifiable" and asked its member nations to help the Nigerian authorities bring those responsible to justice. Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the violence.

A statement on behalf of the United Nations' secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, called for "an end to all violence in the area," and he offered sympathy for the victims.

Pope Benedict XVI told tourists in St. Peter's Square on Sunday that he was following the news from Nigeria with apprehension. The pope appealed for an end to the violence, saying it only increased problems and sowed hatred and division even among the faithful.

Charly Boy And His Pet Snake At The Nigerian Idol Audition

0

Charly Boy and the Snake

All hell was let loose at the recently concluded Nigerian Idol audition in Enugu and the outrageous entertainer Charly Boy is at the centre of it all. According to eye witnesses, trouble started when the popular 'Area Fada' insisted that he bring his pet python 'Abiku' to the judges' table.

This unusual request did not go down well with the organisers who tried to talk sense into Charly Boy to no avail. At this point, the smooth talking musician and Idol judge Jeffrey Daniel tried to wade into the matter by calming down his fellow judge.

The snake's box suddenly flew open as the python raised his head charging at the cameras as the shocked crew took to their heels. It took the tender loving care of CB himself who chased after the enormous snake to calm it down. After a slow massage that took 10 minutes and tender words of love, 'Abiku' finally calmed down and went quietly into her box. Charly Boy finally sat down at the judges table to carry out his duties as Nigerian Idol judge.

The organisers of the competition have failed to comment on the issue. However, we will continue to keep an eye on this show which appears to be stock filled with drama, action and lots of music!

Mrs Tes Sorae Laid To Rest....Husband Says His Wife Had Premonition Of Her Death”

0

Late Mrs Bridget

The sad memories of the killing of the wife of the Chairman/Managing Director of Tomline Industrial Company Ltd, Deaconess Edoowaye Bridget Sorae, who was shot on the 28 of August, 2011, by suspected kidnappers, was rekindled last Thursday October 27, 2011 when her remains were interred into Mother Earth in Benin City.

Four persons including Mrs Sorae was killed when the suspected kidnappers abducted Mr Sorae after the family returned from church that fateful day. Others who were killed in the Sunday mayhem included his two police orderlies and his driver.

Two other ladies in the house also received gunshot injuries. The incident shocked the entire residents of Benin, created panic as to the real intention of the kidnappers particularly after the husband was abducted.

Mr Sorae , a chieftain of the PDP in the state, spoke to newsmen shortly after the burial ceremony . He lamented the death of his wife, recalling the last moment with her. "Both of us were in the church. She did the praise and worship and the way she dressed that day- gorgeously. I had said, 'Mama you are so beautiful this morning.' She said we were going for another marriage, and in fact I continue to imagine what she meant by that. I think she had premonition of her death.

"But I thank God. Who am I to question God. So I just believe she has completed her race and when I will finish up, definitely I will join her. But on my own, I want to try as much as possible for the remaining time of my life to get closer to Him, to worship Him more than ever before. She has done what is humanly possible. I wish her farewell and I believe that she is already in the bosom of the Lord.

"I use this opportunity to advise other people who do not believe in God through this to get themselves seriously involved and serve God diligently and faithfully. The weather has been so bad since the past one week. Yesterday during the service of songs, the weather was so fine and today at the interment, the weather is cool too and I just believe that God who started a good thing in our lives and the life of my wife will end it well."

SKIN CARE FOR DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES
Do you know that Knowing your skin type is absolutely necessary in order to make a right decision about a proper skin care or treatment, that is most suitable for your particular skin requirements?
The initial quality, or type, of skin is genetically determined – meaning that you are born with it.
However, the health and beauty of your skin later in life largely depends on what you eat and how you take care of yourself. A popular Russian saying states that, after the age of 30, a woman looks the way she deserves …To always look great, the first step is to determine your skin type so that you can match it with the best recommended methods to improve your look and slow the aging process.
To care about the skin, the most important thing is to know what skin type you have. Without knowing that you can make disastrous mistakes to your skin as you might choose a wrong way to look after your skin and wrong products to use on it.
It can really damage your skin if you don't know your skin type, e.g. you have an oily skin and you keep on applying oil-based cream on your skin, your skin will break into acne and pimples. So the first things about skin care is to know the type of your skin type;
Generally, we can single out five basic skin types:
• Normal skin

• Dry skin

• Oily skin

• Combination skin

• Sensitive skin

with each having particular characteristics and requiring specific care and/or treatment.

• NORMAL SKIN:
People who have the normal skin type are lucky, as they require least care for their skin type. It needs a normal skin cleaning and caring routine. One can check it the same way one finds out the oily skin. One can wipe the face off with a dry tissue in the morning without a wash. If no oil or dryness is there on the skin it's a normal skin.
Caring for normal skin-normal skin requires a normal cleansing, toning and moisturizing on the skin. Once in a fortnight a face pack for normal skin can be applied to keep it fresh.

• DRY SKIN:
The dry skin has a thin texture and looks visibly dry when natural. One has dryness on face even in the morning. This skin type requires more care like oily skin. It requires moisture than other skin types because it may look patchy and red sometimes. It requires face wash and creams that are specially made for dry skin type. One with dry skin should never forget to apply a good night cream/moisturiser while going to bed. The only advantage with this skin is that it hardly breaks into acne and pimples.
One with dry skin needs lots of water to hydrate the skin, as it requires lots of moisture as the body produces less sebum than required amount by the body.

S-A-N-D-A-L: Justin Bieber's Fan Describes How She And Beiber Had Their Baby

0

Here is the first photo of the three-month-old baby a Californian woman has alleged was secretly fathered by the pop world's biggest teen idol, Justin Bieber.

Mariah Yeater, 20, is pictured on the cover of U.S. magazine Star with her son, Tristyn Anthony Markhouse Yeater, who was born on July 6.

In news which has stunned the world, the 17-year-old superstar has been named in a paternity lawsuit which she filed on October 31.

Yeater has asked the star to submit to a paternity test, and is asking Bieber 'to provide adequate support for my baby', the result of a tryst she alleged lasted no longer than 30 seconds.

In a legal statement, sworn under penalty of perjury, Yeater told a California court that Bieber propositioned her on October 25 of last year, when she was 19 after his concert and at L.A.'s Staples Center.

'I'm going to ignore the rumours': Justin Bieber speaks out for the first time about claims he fathered a love child

According to U.S. website Radar Online, Yeater told a judge: 'When I later realized I was pregnant with Justin Bieber's baby, I tried to contact him through his representatives but no one ever called me back.'

'Based upon the timing as well as the fact there were no other possible men that I had sex with that could be the father of this baby, I believe that Justin Bieber is in fact the father of my baby.'

Bieber spoke out for the first time since the allegations emerged today.

He took to his Twitter page telling fans that he was choosing to ignore the rumours and rather concentrate on his music.

'So Im [sic] going to ignore the rumours...and focus on what is real an opportunity to help by doing what i love. Judge me on the music! Love yall!' Justin tweeted to his fans this morning.

Bieber's spokesperson has vehemently denied the allegations, and told website Radar: 'While we haven't yet seen the lawsuit, it's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims.
'I'm going to ignore the rumours': Justin Bieber speaks out for the first time about claims he fathered a love child

'We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations.'

Yeater wrote a detailed statement about meeting her idol in papers submitted to a Los Angeles court.

She claims she was approached by a security guard while seated in the front row of the star's concert and asked if she wanted to meet the singer backstage.

'Shortly thereafter, Justin Bieber suggested that I go with him to a private place where we could be alone.

'I agreed to go with him and on the walk to a private area, he told me he wanted to make love to me and this was going to be his first time.

'We went inside and immediately his personality changed drastically. He began touching me and repeatedly said he wanted to f*** the s*** out of me.

'At the time I asked him to put a condom on for protection, but he insisted that he did not want to.'

'In his own words, he said that because it was his first time he wanted to feel everything.'

She is said to have described the intercourse as 'brief', lasting 'approximately 30 seconds'.

However, Yeater's claim that she had sex with the star when she was 19 and he was aged 16 would mean under California law that he was underage.

What will Selena say?

Justin has been dating his girlfriend for the past ten months

And if the claims turn out to be true Yeater could lay herself open to a charge of statutory rape of a minor and would at least be guilty of a misdemeanour. But she would not have to register as sex offender if a conviction was upheld.

Yeater claims that after the encounter he refused to give her his phone number, and was 'not interested' in writing down her contact details.

She says that after learning she was pregnant she tried to get in touch with him via his representatives, but there was no response to her calls.

A court hearing is said to have been set for December 15.

Keshi Gets Eagles Job And Nation/World Cup Mandate

0

Stephen Keshi was Wednesday appointed new Nigeria coach, but he will initially be on a salary less than predecessor Samson Siasia and his initial contract will be for six months.

Siasia earned a monthly pay of five million Naira, but Keshi will be placed on a reduced salary of three million Naira, which would be reviewed upwards once his interim appointment is confirmed.
A communiqué from the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation stated that Keshi's appointment was unanimous.
His targets are to qualify Nigeria to the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa as well as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where he is expected to guide his team to at least the quarter-finals.
Like Siasia, Keshi will be allowed to pick his own assistants, according to the NFF.
Keshi himself has insisted he would pick his own staff amid speculations that his ex- Super Eagles teammate Sunday Oliseh will be appointed as his number two man.
The ex-manager of Mali's national team will also not be given the full powers that Siasia enjoyed during his 11-month reign as Eagles supremo.
MTNFootball.com exclusively gathered that these conditions were forwarded by the technical committee of the NFF after their meeting Wednesday for the executive committee, which they later ratified wholesale.

Nollywood Actress Tontoh Dikeh Declares She Is A Witch

1

Controversial Nollywood actress and tattoo freak, Tontoh Dikeh who has been in the news for the past few weeks over the huge tattoo on her back has said the tattoo has deep meanings.

The actress initially remained tight lipped over the heated controversy the tattoo has generated in public and media circles with many saying it has an undertone of the devil.

Tontoh Dikeh speaking to Nigeriafilms.com on the issue explained that "the tattoo took me 10hours to be done with, while I had a two hour break in-between."

The tattoo is making the news because of its size – which has taken every inch of space at the actresses' back – and the devilish connotations the tattoo is alleged to posses.

Several interpretations have been given to the image which has her face, hair and hand 'holding' two horns.

When asked whether the tattoo has any undertone meaning she affirmed by saying, "yes, and it is very deep, I am a witch," refusing to make further comments on the matter.

A source told Nigeriafilms that only strong people carry such tattoo on their body.

The person said, "you cannot see any ordinary human being with this kind of tattoo; this is what I know very much about. Though I am not suppose to say this, I know the society she belongs to, but I am not going to tell you that. If she does not take things easy with herself, she might not like the end of it all, that I assure you of."

Tonto has since her 2006 AMBO days seen a very quick rise to fame in the make-believe industry in Nigeria.

Kim Kardashian Divorce: She Stopped Wearing Her Wedding Rings... As Her Camp Accuse Her Husband 'Kris Humphries' Of Chasing Fame

0

She only announced she was filing for divorce earlier yesterday but Kim Kardashian is already moving about without her engagement and wedding rings.

The 31-year-old reality TV star was seen arriving at LAX airport heading for a trip to Australia.

Kim looked tired and was dressed down for the flight in a simple white T-shirt, black jeans and a leather jacket.

While Kris is reportedly 'devastated' by the not-so-shock announcement, after rumours have dogged their marriage for weeks, Kim's camp are said to be claiming her estranged husband was chasing fame.

According to TMZ, when divorce was mentioned Kris 'went into full Hollywood gear, talking about branding the Kris Humphries name with cologne, nightclub appearances'.

Kim was also said to have gone off Kris after he 'hired a Hollywood publicist' according to the gossip website.

Kris' motives were questioned by Khloe Kardashian before their wedding, which viewers say in the reality show about their wedding which saw the pair come to blows.

Meanwhile reports are emerging that their whole marriage, which is said to have netted the former couple $18million, is a hoax, according to Radaronline.com.

A source told the website: 'It was pretty much an arranged marriage right from the start.'

'Kim was looking for a husband and Kris was selected for her, amongst others. She wasn't really into him but she hoped she would be able to develop some feelings, but it never happened. She was never particularly attracted to him, and by all accounts absolutely hated sleeping with him or even having to make out with him.'

Yesterday Kris was seen in his home state of Minnesota wearing his wedding ring as he headed to the gym.

Neither Kris nor Kim have tweeted about their marriage breakdown although the socialite did issue a statement earlier yesterday.

Kim insisted she had hoped the marriage would 'last forever'.

The 31-year-old reality star said it was 'not an easy decision' after filing for divorce from NBA star Kris, 26, after just 72 days of marriage on the grounds of 'irreconcilable differences'.

In a statement to E! - which screens her TV show - Kim said: 'After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision.

'I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.'

Kris, meanwhile, says he is devastated by Kim's decision, with TMZ claiming he only learnt she was divorcing him this morning.

'I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents,' he said in a statement via his representative.

Like I always say "Business as usual for the K family" and please don't ask me why.

Court Orders NDLEA To Release Nollywood Comedian 'Baba Suwe'

0

Justice Yetunde  Idowu of the Ikeja High Court has ordered the NDLEA to release the embattled comedian  Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe on bail on Friday the 4th of November at the termination of the 15 days court order.

This should be effected if no drug is found in his system before the said date.

Justice Idowu in her ruling said the detention of Baba Suwe was against the human right law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Counsel to  Baba Suwe, Bamidele Aturu, in an ex-parte motion application had asked the court to  order NDLEA to immediately release his client from continues detention and incarceration.

Mr Aturu in his argument told the court that every one is presumed innocent until found guilty in a competent court of law and that  the Nigeria Law does not allow any agency to arrest any person while looking  for evidence to pursue it's case.

According to him, section 35 (1)  sub section 4 and 5 of the 1999 constitution provides for this provision which must be strictly adhered to, adding that the doctrine of substantial compliance does apply in this case.

In responds to the application, NDLEA Counsel Mr. Femi Olorutober, contered that  the old report as attached to the application shows that Baba Suwe stomach was congested with hard drugs.

He prayed  the court to maintain the ruling of the Federal High Court which ordered Baba Suwe to remain in their Custody.

The presiding Judge ruled against NDLEA and granted Babatunde Omidina bail with the sum of N500,000 and two sureties.

Gov. Abiola Ajimobi's Daughter, Bisola Becomes Father's P.A

0

Daddy's girl Bisola, the daughter of Governor of Oyo State-  Abiola Ajimobi is now father's Personal Assistant. And the status is official.

The development puts the popular Victoria Island fun lover at a vantage point in her father's administration.

A clear testimony of her new status is reportedly obvious in her appearances at events Governor Ajimobi attends.

Investigations conducted however revealed that her current status is a subtle the state helms man to keep his daughter in check- and monitor her actions.

Bisola has the reputation of being a party rocker with passion for big money products.

And a notoriety of sort for engaging in different hues of business-  that mostly left her with blurred image.

She was said to have gone on  a spending spree of celebration when her father emerged the Governor of Oyo state. Sources hinged this development on expectations that she would finally have the opening to tap into the state's well of wealth.

And information has it that she has initiated moves towards achieving this- despite her father's ploy to monitor and curtail antics.

Informants revealed that Bisola- married to Kolapo, son of respected Nigerian Chief Kola Daisi- is quietly positioning a few friends to serve as fronts for her business interests in the state.

The game plan is that the friends show interest in contracts Bisola wants to corner- and using her clout as the governor's daughter, Bisola secures approval for the project.

The area of business interests of the group headed by Bisola are Road Works, refurbishing of buildings and supply of this and that material.

Insiders revealed that the recently delivered governor's personal assistant is more interested in 'selling' the contractors to others to execute.

'she just wants clean profit with limited stress' a source divulged.

However there are indications that she might not have a smooth sailing going by the rapport she currently has with fellow government workers in Oyo state.

Many are said not to 'like her' because of the manner she relates.

Bisola is said to throw her weight around a lot as the Governor's daughter.

Sources further revealed that this development has pitched her in opposing camps with quite a number of workers at the Governor's office and within the Executive cabinet of Oyo state.

This development is said to be spiraling into the formation of a group monitoring her ways- and vowing to scuttle it by public exposure.

Promoters of this line of thought believe such actions will prevent plundering of state resources by a mind known to explore desperate measures to make extra kobo.

Followers of events are keenly watching to see how events play out in the nearest future.
