Police authorities in Abuja, yesterday, disclosed that they were working on a case of missing person regarding the sudden disappearance of Mr John Obi, father of football star, Mikel Obi, as no group or persons have called either the family or any other person asking for or demanding for ransom.
Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Police Commissioner Olusola Amore, said that the family of Mikel Obi reported last Friday, August 12, 2011, that their patriach, John Obi, was missing after he closed from his shop and drove off in his Mercedes Benz Salon car.
Following the complaint, the Police in Jos, the Plateau State capital made efforts to call his phone, which rang, but the call was not picked. Subsequently, when the line was called, the phone was off.
Amore also said the police had no reason to think he was abducted for now because no one or group had called either the family or the Police to demand for the payment of money or any other form of ransom, adding that unless such happened, it cannot regard it as abduction.
The Police have, however, asked family members to make the photograph of their father available to enhance investigation into the matter.
Amore said the police would, through the photograph, appeal to members of the public to help with information that would lead to elder Obi's whereabouts.
