R. Kelly Falls ill Due to Past Surgery, Cancels All Press Appearances

R. Kelly has been forced to cancel a promotional trip to New York City, his publicist reports, as he took ill this morning while traveling from Chicago. The "Pied Piper of R&B" had been slated to appear on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" and NBC's "Today," but he's apparently wrestling with throat issues brought on by the emergency surgery he underwent last year.
"While on his way to New York this morning to celebrate the publication of his long-awaited memoir SoulaCoaster, multi-platinum R&B superstar R. Kelly was taken ill and had to return to Chicago for medical treatment," reads an official statement. "Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords."
His rep adds that it's "unclear how long Kelly may be sidelined."
The "Trapped in the Closet" creator underwent surgery in July 2010, after being rushed to Chicago's Northwestern Memorial hospital. In a message to fans the following month, he shouted out all the "prayer warriors" in his corner.
"The doctor said the surgery went well," Kelly added of his hospital visit last year. "I know it may not look like it, but it did. I want y'all to continue to pray for me. Be strong out there, I will be back. I know it's a lot of negativity out there, please don't believe the hype. God is good all the time."
In addition to his upcoming memoir, R. Kelly is also promoting his 11th studio album, Write Me Back, which debuted this week.

Their foundation is highlife with the duo fusing a blend of pop and urban elements. Their music has been met with applause as their first single 'kporonge' was a huge success in the East and received positive responses from feedback from other parts of Nigeria and Africa.
The attention and
success of their debut led to an interest by an indie label executive, shortly after signing the contract however it was terminated by the duo. A remix of the monster hit single 'kporonge' with Duncan Mighty and visuals shot by the profilic Clarence Peters was shot.
Shortly afterwards, Hillbank records - A South African label based in Capetown signed them.
They are currently working on their next EP which would feature productions from hit music makers Samklef for the track 'effizy' and Dekumzy (producer of hit tracks like 'Me and you' by Bracket, 'Yori yori' , 'No time' featuring PSquare) for the duo's second song 'Ayogo'. Assorted has collaborated with Da L.E.S of the South African trio, Jozi,which would be their next single.

Madonna Stirs Up Controversy As She Flashes Her Breast During Performance(PHOTOS)

Last week Madonna was pictured covering up in an unflattering ensemble as she visited various historical landmarks in Turkey.
But on Thursday evening the singer shocked when she exposed her right breast to an audience of over 55,000 people during a performance of Human Nature at the Turk Telecom Arena in Istanbul.
Caught in the moment of the provocative 1995 hit's lyrics Madonna undressed herself much to the pleasure of her excited fans.In a few suggestive tugs she pulled at her bra straps before pulling the entire cup down and exposing her breast.

Rizzz whose real name is Doris Ukwade is an eccentric and passionate female artiste who is bent on making music that would inspire and influences the life of others.
Born and bred in Delta, she moved to Lagos in 2003 to pursue a music career. She has being passionate about the music from a very young age, she started from the choir and discovered herself early enough but she waited this long to debut simply because – in her words ‘I believe that what’s worth doing at all is worth doing well’.
She started with a live band, before she moved on to record her first studio song in 2004. A polished female artiste from the several nights in the studio, honing her craft as a singer, Rizzz has released a couple of singles and has shot two videos. She just won the plaque for the best raggae act at the Hype Awards 2012.

P-Square Signs Distribution Deal With Universal Music Group

Psquare have created enormous buzz in the entertainment industry since they inked deal with Akon's Konvict music, so it comes as no surprise that Peter announced via Twitter today that they signed to Universal Music Group knowing that Konvict Music operates as a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.
P-Square signed a distribution deal with Universal Music, South Africa. The deal was signed and sealed this afternoon at a press conference in Johannesbourg, South Africa. The music label will be releasing past and future projects with them; and handle all their digital and CD sales all over the world. These guys keep rocking

Bee Gees' Singer, Robin Gibb Dies At 62 After Long Battle With Cancer

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has passed away today at age 62.
The musician died after undergoing intestinal surgery and due to his long battle with cancer.
'The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time,' family spokesman Doug Wright said.
The father-of-three had been battling colon and liver cancer.
Fears for the star’s health were first raised last year when he appeared looking gaunt on a TV show to promote his single for Poppy Day.But Mr Gibb tried to allay any rumors about his health after admitting he had cancer – but claiming he had beaten it, saying doctors had told him: ‘It’s gone, they’ve told me they can’t see it no more, I’ve done it.’

Following a relapse last month, his wife Dwina, 59, spoke of her joy after the singer woke from a 12-day coma despite being given just a 10 per cent chance of survival by doctors.
She had been told to start making plans for the musician’s passing as he slumped into a coma after contracting pneumonia.

Monica Ogah, winner of season 4, Project Fame West Africa under Goretti Management has premiered three brand new singles. And they are:
‘Below‘, the techno-laced, bass-thumping number produced by J Sleek should easily score as a club hit. Monica’s vocal presence removes any form of the song sounding monotonous, making it ‘repeat button complaint’.
‘I wish sey‘ is produced by Tha Suspect (who seems to have found his revolutionary side). Monica bitterly complains about the condition of the everyday Nigerian and hopes for a better day. Again, her vocal performance should be commended.
On ‘Tomorrow‘, Monica strikes a resemblance with past PFWA winner Chidinma. She still performs very well on the Tee-Y Mix-produced pop sound.
Monica relies largely on her vocals which will pay off for a starter as herself. Very commendable.

Queen Of Disco' Donna Summer Dies At Age 63

Grammy-winning disco legend Donna Summer died Thursday after a battle with lung cancer, aged 63, her family and media reports said.
Known as the Queen of Disco, the singer, whose 1970s and 80s hits included "I Feel Love," "Love to Love you Baby" and "She Works Hard for the Money," died in Florida, the TMZ celebrity news website said.
"Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith," said a family statement.
"While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time."
TMZ reported that she died of lung cancer, citing sources as saying she believed she contracted it after inhaling toxic particles following the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York.

Lady Gaga Banned From Performing In Indonesia After Islamic Group Protest

Lady Gaga has been refused a permit to perform in Indonesian capital Jakarta next month after Islamic groups in the country expressed opposition to her "vulgar" style, Reuters reports.
Three Islamic groups expressed their oppostion to the concert planned on June 3, as part of her mammoth 110-date tour 'Born This Way Ball' world tour and demanded that it be stopped.
"She's a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil's child and that she will spread satanic teaching," said Salim Alatas, the Jakarta head of hardline Islamic Defender Front (FPI). He added: "This is dangerous."
While Indonesia is a secular state, it has the world's largest population of Muslims as well as significant minorities of Christians, Buddhists and Hindus.
More than 30,000 tickets had been sold for the Jakarta concert.

Dr SID debuted at number four for the Week of April 6 to April 14, 2012.

Kanye West Releases Single Without Featuring D’Banj + Hilarious Letter From A Fan To D'banj

His respect for Kanye West, his new "boss" (as D'Banj describes him) is so immense that in the video for his new single, 'Oliver Twist' , D'Banj left out every single member of the Mo' Hits family, including Don Jazzy who produced the track, but ensured that not only Kanye West, but other acts on the G.O.O.D Music label appeared, including Big Sean, Pusha T and producer Hit Boy.
Unfortunately a few weeks later, Kanye releases the first single from forthcoming (and highly anticipated) G.O.O.D Music compilation, 'Mercy' (Lamborghini Murciélago), and D'Banj is nowhere to be found on it. *sorry face*
This brings me to a letter which was addressed to the Kokomaster by one of his fan:
I love your work, I really do, I think you're one of the greatest musicians of your generation, but I must say, your new affiliation with G.O.O.D music seems to be getting to your head.
For years you've been known by your official name, Dapo Oyebanjo, even using it as part of your twitter handle. Well all good things come to an end, and your affiliation with your new label seems to have brought that particular chapter of your life to an untimely conclusion.
D'Banj you've now gone from 'Dapo Oyebanjo' to 'Daniel Banjo'. All I can do is laugh, I mean, Daniel 'Banjo' ? What are you, a country music star from Nashville?
I mean, I get it, Daniel provides the 'D' and Banjo provides the 'Banj', but negro please, you're hustlin' backwards. Why abandon the successful person you are to become a less successful version of what you're not? You're a Nigerian, not an American, and no matter how hard you try, you'll never be one, so be yourself and have faith.
Plus, truth be told, based on a fan base, you're the BIGGEST artist in the entire G.O.O.D music family other than Ye' himself. You don't need to become an Americanized version of yourself to fit in, not to knock their hustle, but I promise you, John Legend, Pusha T, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Common and your other label mates wish they had as many rabid long-time fans as you do, they don't. You've accomplished something most of them will never get to do, they should be insecure around you, not vice versa.
Either way, Dapo Daniel I'm sure you still have people who can advice you. I'd suggest they step up and tell you to accept who you are and not try to be something you're not. Truth be told, your music is what people are interested in, not the un-africanization / westernization of your name, heck, just go study the life of Tupac Amaru Shakur to see how having an ethnic name is immaterial to one's success. Or go further back and study the work of one of your mentors, the late, great Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who actually went from his westernized "Ransome-Kuti" to the very Nigerianized "Anikulapo". Till today his name still rings out in all corners of the world, heck he was even immortalized with a show on Broadway.
Anyway, all I'm trying to say is people love those who keep it 100, please get back to that.

Asa Drags Former Label Owner, KELVIN LUCIANO To Court For Releasing Her "DOWN WITH ME" Song

The former friends will be digging it out in court anytime soon over what Asa tagged the infringement of her intellectual property by her former label owner.
Seriously only the court of law can settle this matter, Asa said through her rep.
In a letter, Asa's rep affirmed that they will take every legal means to secure what belong to them.

"It has come to our attention that a certain Nigerian Chronotech Limited (a CD factory) based in Lagos Nigeria is preparing to go into commercial production of a purported Asa music production titled 'Down On Me'.
The music production was purportedly authorised by Question Mark entertainment in partnership with marketer/ distributor MacKings Limited.
We wish to state categorically that Asa was not involved in this production in any form and the artiste's team is very shocked by this misrepresentation from Question Mark entertainment or MacKings Limited, two organisations with which she has no relationship whatsoever.
We also take this opportunity to notify individuals and
organisations that this production and the associated illegal use of the Asa trademark are a violation of her intellectual property. We have informed our lawyers and appropriate action will be taken against any individual, body or corporate entity associated with this.
We thank Nigerian Chronotech for its professionalism in this matter - and for promptly alerting Asa's management to confirm the authenticity of this production, and look forward to this professionalism from other Nigerian music industry stakeholders.
