Eyewitnesses at the JIBWIS conference in Bauchi township now add that the three loud explosions heard overnight ion in the city was as a result of a faulty electric transformer that blew up close to the JIBWIS conference center.
Saharareporters had contacted the Commissioner of police in the state directly as citizen reporters affiliated to SR told they heard the explosions.
The CP responded to our inquiries by saying there was a bomb explosion on a railway line in Bauchi Township, apparently it wasn't a bomb as previously reported.
However, there were two separate attacks in Tafawa Balewa LGA and Lamar Katagun in the state.
Earlier today it was reported that Islamist militant fighters are currently attacking several towns in Bauchi state including Bauchi township the state capital.
Eyewitnesses to Saharareporters that a police station in Tafawa Balewa local government area was targeted while another military checkpoint was attacked by Boko Haram gunmen at Marar Rabar Liman Katagun.
The police commissioner in Bauchi state also confirmed to Saharareporters that a bomb exploded near a railway line in Bauchi Township, but residents said they heard three explosions near IBB Square and the Jahun area.
