Iyeoka, a Nigerian-born slam poet, 2010 TED Global Fellow and recording artist will bring her lyrical and musical talents to Wellesley College Sept. 22. The event is open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. in the Multifaith Center, Reception Area. Her tunes are jazzy, soulful and catchy, reminiscent of Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone. But most seem to carry a positive, hopeful message as well.
The "Yellow Brick Road Song" features hip hop artist B.Cap, and is the first song on Iyeoka's album, "Say Yes." Incidentally, it's also the theme song for the USA network show, "Fairly Legal."
