An Osogbo Magistrate's Court on Monday sentenced a 28-year-old man, Dada Kabiru, to six months in prison with hard labour for stealing 25 litres of vegetable oil, popularly known as 'Ororo'. The convict had pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency.
The magistrate, Olusola Aluko, however, gave him an option of N5,000 fine. Police Prosecutor Isiaka Ajadi had earlier told the court that on August 28, at No 1, Igbona Market Osogbo, Mr Kabiru stole the 25 litres of vegetable oil, valued at N7,000. He said the commodity was the property of one Oloyede Abioye.
