Abia State Gang Rape: House Summons Police Commissioner And VC!

0

ABIA State Police Commissioner, Bala Hassan and the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), Professor Chibuzo Ogbuagu, would this morning appear before the State House of Assembly to tell the lawmakers what they know about the alleged gang rape of a female student reportedly by five students of ABSU.

They were ordered to appear before the House after the House had received a letter from the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs, Mrs. Blessing Agba, who prayed the House to intervene and take prompt action to unravel those behind the despicable act.

We earlier reported that five students of ABSU subjected a female student to a marathon rape, leaving the girl helpless and completed their animalistic act by uploading same to the internet, thus making a movie of the century downloaded by about two million people across the world. The incident was greeted by outrage from across the globe.

Since the incident became public knowledge, the Abia State government has held that it did not happen in the state, but the Minister of Youth Affairs, Mobolaji Abudllahi, told newsmen in Lagos that the gang rape took place in an off campus hostel in Uturu, though the girl was not from the institution.

He said one of the rapists has been 'identified conclusively,' giving hope that there would soon be a breakthrough in nabbing those that carried out the criminal act.

Abia State government's position was said to have been predicated on reports it got from the authorities of ABSU and the police.

Vice Chancellor of ABSU, through the Dean of Student Affairs, Udo Nwokocha, had denied that the students were from ABSU and the venue of the hot rape was not anywhere near God's own university.

However, unfolding revelations may have forced the state to push for a thorough investigation into the matter as names of the alleged rapists were released online.

On his part, Abia police commissioner has been quoted as lamenting that there was no breakthrough in its investigations into the matter because the victim was yet to formally report the incident to the police.

Hassan said the girl was needed to come to the police to help in identifying the rapists whose faces were not seen in the horrendous act.

Michael Jackson Death Trial: Prosecutors Show Death Photo, Play Recording of Drugged King of Pop!

0

A photo of Michael Jackson lying dead in a hospital bed was shown in a courtroom today and jurors heard a shocking audio tape of a drugged Jackson slurring his words so badly that he was barely understandable.

The photo and the audio were part of the opening statement prosecutors made at the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who is accused of involuntary manslaughter in the death of the king of pop.

Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, told the court that Murray isn't to blame for Jackson's death, that Jackson gave himself of dose of drugs that killed him so quickly that Jackson "didn't even have time to close his eyes."

Attorney David Walgren showed a photo of Jackson dancing at the Staples Center the night before he overdosed on propofol and put the picture side by side with a picture of Jackson lying lifeless in a hospital bed, draped in a hospital gown.

"What happened between that time and approximately 12 hours later when Michael Jackson is dead on June 25, 2009?" Walgren asked. "What you will learn through the evidence is that what happened during that time frame is that the acts and omissions of Michael Jackson's personal doctor, Conrad Murray, directly led to his premature death at the age of 50."

Murray, 58, could face four years in prison and lose his medical license if convicted. Throughout the opening statement, prosecutors attacked Murray's medical skills, saying he showed gross negligence and abandonment in his treatment of Jackson.

Prosecutors played a recording of a drugged Jackson. The recording had been made on Murray's iPhone on May 10, 2009, a little more than a month before Jackson died.

Jackson's voice is nearly unrecognizable as he stumbles and talks slowly about the impact he hopes his "This Is It" Tour will have. Jackson was preparing for the 50-night grueling comeback tour at the time of his death.

"We have to be phenomenal... when people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say I've never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go . I've never seen nothing like this. Go. It's amazing. He's the greatest entertainer in the world," he mumbles.

"I'm taking that money, a million children, children's hospital the biggest in the world. Michael Jackson's Children's Hospital," Jackson says in the recording.

The prosecutor also said that the upcoming tour was important to Jackson because it would be the first time that his children would see him perform. The courtroom is packed with the Jackson family members including father Joe Jackson, mother Kathryn Jackson and siblings like Janet Jackson.

Murray, in a gray pin striped suit, looked stunned at the evidence compiled against him. He cried when his defense attorney, Ed Chernoff, delivered the defense's opening statement.

"While Michael Jackson was frustrated because he could not sleep, frustrated because his doctor refused to give him a drug that he preferred, that he wanted, he did an act without his doctor's knowledge, without his doctor's permission," Chernoff said.

The defense claimed that Jackson took a sedative and then a final dose of propofol without his doctor's knowledge. The sedative lorazepam coupled with the propofol created a "perfect sorm in his body that killed him instantly."

As he went to fetch his tractor, he spotted the sultry star dancing around in her bra and took a dislike to the singer's racy style.

'I thought it was inappropriate. I requested them to stop and they did,' farmer Alan Graham told the BBC.

'I had my conversation with Rihanna and I hope she understands where I'm coming from. We shook hands,' he said.

'I didn't know who was coming. If the name 'Rihanna' had been mentioned, well, no disrespect but it wouldn't have meant anything.'

'Michael Jackson's Son Prince' Nervous But Willing To Testify...As Dr Murray Trial Begins Today!

0

Michael Jackson's eldest son Prince -- an eyewitness to the horrific scene in the bedroom where his father lost his life -- does want to testify in the Conrad Murray trial which begins today, but he's telling family he'll do what needs to be done to get justice for his departed dad.

Sources close to Prince says the 14-year-old is "nervous" and worried that if he's called to the stand he might get flustered and "mess up."

We're told if Prince is called by prosecutors ... Katherine will ask her lawyers to request that the entire courtroom be cleared during his testimony.

Judge Michael Pastor almost certainly will prohibit the media from training a camera on Prince, but it's unlikely he'll clear the courtroom.

As we previously reported, Prince is on the prosecution's witness list, since Dr. Murray summoned Prince to the bedroom for help during the emergency.  When Prince arrived, he dissolved into tears.

The trial starts today.  We'll be live streaming opening statements. Stay in touch with this blog.

How 'Justin Bieber' Pulled Off His Big Surprise Date With 'Selena Gomez'!

3

Justin Bieber has spilled on how he surprised 'girlfriend' Selena Gomez with an intimate dinner and a movie for 2 at the otherwise empty Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Very romantic if you ask me....

Justin and Selena attended a Demi Lovato concert Friday night at the nearby Nokia Theater.  After the show, just after 11 PM, Justin instructed Selena, "Follow me," and then took her through the underground tunnel that connects Nokia to Staples. When they walked inside the empty, 20,000 seat arena, the lights had been dimmed and there was a table for 2 on the floor, with candles ... of course.

I learnt Justin had the fancy Staples restaurant -- The Lexus Club -- cater the meal.  They ate steak and pasta, and when they were done, suddenly the movie "Titanic" appeared on the screen. Justin got the idea from the movie, "Mr. Deeds," where Adam Sandler surprises Winona Ryder with a date at Madison Square Garden. Selena was "shocked" when she realized what was up. As for Justin ... he didn't have to pay a penny, because the honchos at Staples were grateful he filled the arena 3 times in the past.

According to a lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Via Davia Vintage provided Hill "with an entire wardrobe of high fashion items." The company claims Hill agreed to pay a fixed weekly fee for 4 weeks. But according to the lawsuit, Hill hung on to the clothes for three months, paying only a fraction of what she owed.. And to top it off ... the consultant claims Hill only returned about 30% of the items, keeping the expensive stuff. This is the second time in the last two months Hill has been sued because of her 2007 European Tour. Last month, a guitar player sued her for $20,000 ... claiming she stiffed him. Boko Haram Threatens To Mark 'Independence Day' With Bombings At Specific Locations!

0
Security agencies have revealed fresh plans by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram to attack selected high profile targets in the federal capital ahead of this weekend's independence anniversary.

Information revealed that the targets, are the NNPC Towers in Abuja, Central Bank headquarters, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Army barracks and Mammy markets in Abuja, Federal Secretariat Complex, the National Assembly, Supreme Court, Office of the Secretary to Government of the federation and even the Nigeria Police headquarters, because according to the source, their target at the Police headquarters is yet to be dealt with, even after the earlier attack this year.
The SSS claimed that the attacks are coming on the heels of a presidency directive to all security agencies to submit to it documents on their handling of the Boko Haram crisis since 2007. The presidency's directive was the outcome of outrage that trailed the comments of the leader of the group released by the Police to a sister agency.
The Boko Haram group according to findings by security agencies has conscripted agents to attack selected government institutions and buildings in Abuja between Monday 26th September and October 1st 2011, when Nigeria would be celebrating its 51st independent anniversary.
Towards this end,it was gathered that security agencies have unmasked plots by the group to use two vehicle types- a Nissan Sunny salon car with registration Abuja CL 735 ABJ and an Audi new model with registration KD 475 JJ, to possibly carry out their next suicide attacks on very important government targets in the federal capital territory.
Consequently, a new security alert has gone out to all military, Police and other security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and not switch off for any moment as the sect appears determined to carry out their threat.
Asked if states earmarked for attack by the group particularly those in the Niger Delta, should down play the threat by the sect, now that they have narrowed their plots to attacking government assets in Abuja, the security source said: "It will be a big mistake as the group was very good at elements of surprise. When you begin to think all is well, that their minds were focused on a different target, is when they strike at you".

I’m No Pharaoh Or Army General...Says President Jonathan

0
Dr Goodluck Jonathan said yesterday he would not employ the maximum power in the discharge of his duties.

He said he does not have the character of a ruthless leader or that of a Commander-in-Chief that would make things happen the way some would have wanted. He believes he can transform the country without exhibiting the traits of a lion king or that of "a Goliath".

President Jonathan was apparently reacting to criticisms that his administration is slow in tackling social and economic problems, even as it directs its energy in the wrong direction.

Among such problems are security, including the Boko Haram challenge, unemployment and the crisis in the judiciary.

He blamed the nation's woes on certain politicians, who he did not name, for the nation's, saying they do not want Nigeria to progress.

The President spoke in Abuja during the church service, which was held amid tight security. Many people were turned back and for the few who were allowed inside the National Christian Worship Centre, also known as the Ecumenical Centre, it was a long walk to the service – no thanks to the heavy security.

Jonathan praised the church for praying for the success and stability of his administration and promised: "We will conquer the Goalith of our time."

"Some others will want the President to operate like an army general, like my Chief of Army Staff commanding his troops. Incidentally, I am not a lion; I am not also a general.

"Somebody will want the President to operate like the kings of Syria, Babylon, Egypt, the Pharaoh, all - powerful people that you read about in the Bible. They want the president to operate that way, the characters of the Goliath. Unfortunately, I am not one of those.

"I don't need to be a lion. I don't need to be Nebuchadnezzar. I don't need to operate like the Pharaoh of Egypt. I don't need to be an army general but I can change this country without those traits.

*He went on and on*
